About Gavin Offer, Podiatrist

I grew up in the country and went to boarding school in Perth and am now married with three teenage children. I have played plenty of sport including tennis, hockey and rugby and remain a keen sportsman.

Currently, I’m active in the community with surf patrol and lifesaving duties at Cottesloe Surf Club. I regularly engage in open water swimming events, City to Surf and other fun runs, surfing, diving and cycling. I’ve had to undergo some rehab for injuries, too.

I have an Economics degree from UWA (1989) and a Bachelor of Science (Podiatry) degree from Curtin University (1994) then completed a Diploma of Acupuncture (1996) which is used for the relief of pain and injury rehabilitation. I now have over 20 years experience working with foot and ankle problems.

I am an experienced and skilled clinician with an empathetic nature and I work hard to achieve great results for my clients. Positive feedback from a client who is happy with their management is a welcome reward and I thank them every day for that opportunity.

Initially gaining experience in the public health system working with high risk and diabetic feet in Sir Charles Gairdner and Royal Perth Hospitals, I established Active Podiatry in 1995. My experience has evolved into injury management, resoving chronic pain issues, manufacturing orthotics and nail surgery/repair.

I keep a range of CAMboots in the clinic for immediate fitting in the event of stress fractures, acute foot or ankle injury fractures and tendon ruptures. I also stock ankle braces, wobble boards, air cushions and other devices for injury management.

I can fix ingrown nails and remove plantar warts with minimal pain and fuss, prescribe, repair and fit orthoses, remove corns and calluses and perform any general podiatry required.

A recent addition to the clinic – a Shock Wave Therapy machine – has enabled a faster turnaround in chronic tendon and plantar fascia injury management where other conservative techniques have not worked.

I am a very good communicator and enjoy paediatric podiatry. Engaging with children and families is always a pleasure and another highlight of my career. Experience with families to address developmental concerns through early intervention and in the management of common issues such as rotational issues and flat feet, warts, ingrown nails and Severs disease are all familiar territory. My friendly nature and personality allows children to feel comfortable and relaxed in the clinical setting.

I have worked closely with physiotherapists, osteopaths, chiropractors and personal trainers, as well as GP’s and radiologists. I have a keen understanding and appreciation of the skills of other health professionals and am happy to liase with your therapist as required in the management of your injury. It often requires a team effort to see you successfully through your rehabilitation, recovery and back to full health following injury or surgical interventions.
